Sponsored by the Cape Ann Rowing Club. www.blackburnchallenge.com AUGUST 2-4, 2012 GLOUCESTER SIDEWALK BAZAAR Now in its 54th year, Sidewalk Bazaar takes place on Main Street in Downtown Gloucester. Over 120 vendors, street food, children's activities. AUGUST 4, 2012 FESTIVAL BY THE SEA Manchester-by-the-Sea Help start a new tradition on Cape Ann celebrating locally grown art, music and food, as the Manchester Division of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce presents the first annual Festival by the Sea. This all day event will highlight not only the idyllic beauty of Cape Ann, but also the incredible talent for which the area has become synonymous. Tapping into the area's wealth of musical and artistic talents, the family-friendly festival will feature live music on two stages through- 36 EVENTS CALENDAR out the day, culminating in an evening waterfront concert in Masconomo Park. While walking through town, visitors will be able to peruse the art and handcrafted items created by some of the area's finest artists, craftsmen, and jewelry designers. AUGUST 18-19, 2012 GLOUCESTER WATERFRONT FESTIVAL Stage Fort Park, Gloucester A collection of over 175 Juried Artists and Craftsmen from throughout the U.S. will display their unique creations, live music, plus delicious ethnic foods. A pancake breakfast and traditional New England Lobster Bake complement this picture perfect seaport event! Free live "family style" entertainment includes puppeteers, ragtime jazz and maritime music. North Shore Old Car Club will display over 75 Antique Autos on Sunday. The Gloucester Waterfront Festival runs from 9am to 6pm each day. Handicap accessible and friendly pets on leashes are welcome. Free Admission. AUGUST 11, 2012 GLOUCESTER BLUES FESTIVAL Stage Fort Park, Gloucester Shemekia Copeland is at the top of her game and will thrill the blues lovers at Stage Fort Park this August. She performed at the White House for President Barack Obama and shared the stage with blues legends such as B.B. King, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Jeff Beck, Keb Mo, Warren Haynes and Trombone Shorty. Many of the nation's finest jazz performers will be joining Copeland at this festival, produced by Paul Benjamin of the North Atlantic Blues Festival in Rockland Maine, which attracts 16,000 people to the Maine waterfront each July. Cape Ann Guide 2012 ~ Essex, Gloucester, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and Rockport AUGUST 31 - SEPTEMBER 2, 2012 GLOUCESTER SCHOONER FESTIVAL Gloucester Harbor The Gloucester Schooner Festival takes place each Labor Day weekend. It's Gloucester's major marine event, with participating vessels coming from ports along the Eastern Seaboard. There are both large and small vessels— ranging from 19 feet to over 125 feet in length. The Mayor's Race is the major event of every Schooner Festival and takes place on Sunday, with over 20 large schooners expected to compete. The Schooner Festival also offers plenty of shore side events includ- ing a not-to-be-missed Parade of Sail on Sunday morning along the
