On August 4th the Manchester Division of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce will begin a new tradition by hosting the first Festival by the Sea in downtown Manchester-by-the- Sea. This all day event will highlight not only the idyllic beauty of Cape Ann, but also the incredible talent for which the area has become synonymous. Tapping into the area's wealth of musical and artistic talents, the family- friendly festival will feature live music on two stages throughout the day, culminating in an evening waterfront concert in Masconomo Park. While walking through town, visitors will be able to peruse the art and handcrafted items created by some of the area's finest artists, craftsmen, and jewelry designers. Local restaurants will showcase some of their most tempting creations while area farmers and co-ops will be on hand with locally grown fruits and vegetables. Festival by the Sea will most definitely provide visitors with a summertime glimpse into some of the best that Cape Ann has to offer. The event is free and there will be ample parking and a complimentary shuttle to and from satellite parking areas. Mark your calendar and pack your blanket for a day of great music, inspired artistry and delicious, locally grown foods. ROCKPORT HARVESTFEST October 13th, 2012, 10 am to 6 pm Rockport's HarvestFest is an annual downtown festival featuring the best of fall in New England. Alongside Rockport's stunning natural scenery, HarvestFest highlights small, local food producers from Cape Ann. Everything from chowder to cheese to fresh produce will be brought together under the giant HarvestFest tent, set up overlooking Rockport's Old Harbor on one of the village's active fishing wharves. Along with food, festival-goers will also enjoy live music while sampling locally-crafted brews under the big tent. HarvestFest also features the Scarecrow Stroll, with scarecrows of every sort set up throughout downtown and an opportunity to vote on your favorite. Another highlight of the festival is the annual showcase of non-profits and community organizations in Harvey Park. This is a lively, interactive stop for festival-goers, with art activities for children, hayrides, and live music all taking place in the park. Cooking demonstrations, art exhibits and live music throughout downtown will also be on hand, with Rockport's business community and cultural institutions joining in with their own HarvestFest special events and activities. The 2012 Rockport HarvestFest is on October 13th from 10 am to 6 pm, with special festival business promotions and additional cultural events taking place throughout the weekend.
