EVENTS CALENDAR AUGUST 1-3, 2013: GLOUCESTER SIDEWALK BAZAAR - DOWNTOWN GLOUCESTER Now celebrating its 55th year, the Sidewalk Bazaar takes place on Main Street in Downtown Gloucester. Over 120 vendors, street food, live music and children's activities. AUGUST 3, 2013 FESTIVAL BY THE SEA DOWNTOWN MANCHESTERBY-THE-SEA 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. The best of Cape Ann's music, art and food will be showcased during a familyfriendly day in town and on the shores of Manchester Harbor. Festival By The Sea is a celebration of the things that are synonymous with Cape Ann in the Summertime – Art, Music & Food and will create memories that will last a lifetime! Vendor booths will be spread throughout downtown Manchester – from the Town Hall to the shores of Manchester Harbor. Every step of the way, visitors' senses will be inspired by the beauty of art, the sounds of live music and the sights and aromas of locally grown and prepared foods. Visitors will be treated to an extraordinary day of visual, performance and culinary arts, culminating with an evening waterfront concert in beautiful Masconomo Park. AUGUST 10, 2013 GLOUCESTER BLUES FESTIVAL STAGE FORT PARK, GLOUCESTER World-class blues will reverberate through Stage Fort Park once again this August with some of the nation's finest performers playing from the Gloucester Blues stage. This year's headliners will include Tommy Castro, Ana Popovic, Johnny Rawls, Biscuit 24 Miller, Anthony Gomes and more! Guitarist and singer/songwriter Lydia Warren will be opening this year's festival. Located right on the waterfront on beautiful Cressey's beach, the event will have a beer garden and outstanding food and craft vendors. Gates open at 9:00 am, with performances from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. AUGUST 10, 2013 ROCKPORT FIREWORKS DISPLAY, OLD GRANITE PIER SANDY BAY, ROCKPORT As dusk settles over Rockport, settle in at Back Beach and the American Legion Bandstand to watch this first annual summertime fireworks display over Sandy Bay. The fireworks display will follow the Rockport Rotary Club's Lobsterfest, a unique annual outdoor dining and fundraising event at the Legion Bandstand, serving boiled lobster, clam chowder and more from Noon to 7:00 pm. AUGUST 14-18, 2013 ROCKPORT MUSIC JAZZ FESTIVAL - SHALIN LIU PERFORMANCE CENTER, ROCKPORT Five consecutive nights of great jazz, from the astounding jazz Cape Ann Guide 2013 ~ Essex, Gloucester, Manchester-by-the-Sea, and Rockport interpretations of vocalist Kurt Elling to the African-inspired jazz of violinist Regina Cole, and culminating with three-time Grammy Award-winning jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis. rockportmusic.org/jazz-summer.html AUGUST 17-18, 2013 GLOUCESTER WATERFRONT FESTIVAL - STAGE FORT PARK, GLOUCESTER A collection of over 175 Juried Artists and Craftsmen from throughout the U.S. will display their unique creations, along with live music and delicious foods. Free live "family style" entertainment includes puppeteers, ragtime jazz and maritime music. The Gloucester Waterfront Festival runs from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm each day. Handicap accessible. Free Admission. capeannvacations.com AUGUST 30 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2013: GLOUCESTER SCHOONER FESTIVAL GLOUCESTER HARBOR The 29th annual Gloucester Schooner Festival takes place on Labor Day weekend. It's Gloucester's major marine event, with participating vessels coming from ports along the Eastern Seaboard. There are both large and small vessels—ranging from 19 feet to over 125 feet in length. The Mayor's Race is the major event of every Schooner Festival and takes place on Sunday, with over 20 large schooners expected to compete. The Schooner Festival also offers plenty of shore side events including a not-to-bemissed Parade of Sail on Sunday morning along the Boulevard promenade (Stacy Boulevard, Route 127) as the large schooners
