Experience Cape Ann 2016-2017 54 Beauport, The Sleeper- McCann House (978) 283-0800 properties/homes/beauport 75 Eastern Point Boulevard, Gloucester Perched on a rock ledge overlooking Gloucester Harbor, Beauport, The Sleeper-McCann House, is the eclectic summer home of interior designer Henry Davis Sleeper. Sleeper, a nationally noted antiquarian and collector, and one of the frst professional interior designers in the United States, began building Beauport in 1907. He eventually enlarged the house to over forty rooms flled with a lifetime collection that includes period furniture, glassware, books, ceramics, hooked rugs and silhouettes arranged within various rooms, many decorated to evoke different historical and literary themes. Guided hourly tours, May 28 – October 15, Tuesday – Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm. Cape Ann Artisans (978) 546 - 7582 2016 marks the 33rd year for the Cape Ann Artisans open Studio Tour, the oldest open studio event in the country. The Spring Tour is Saturday and Sunday, May 21 - 22. The Fall Tour is Columbus Day weekend, October 8-9. Both tours are held 10 am to 5 pm each day. This self-guided journey along the scenic coastline of Gloucester and Rockport presents a unique opportunity to meet 21 professional artists, see their work in the setting in which it was created and enjoy demonstrations in various media. The work represented includes: pottery, painting, sculpture, photography, mosaics and jewelry. Not in town for the tour? You can visit many studios year round by appointment.
