Experience Cape Ann 2016-2017 22 Cape Ann By Land & By Sea And By Sea … Every year thousands of visitors and locals alike experience Cape Ann's rich maritime heritage and natural beauty through a wide range of on the water activities, including whale watching, kayaking, fshing and chartered tours in and around Cape Ann's scenic harbors and coastlines. Cape Ann's location has prime access to some of the most pristine regions of marine life, including the National Marine Sanctuary at Stellwagon Bank. A short journey from Gloucester Harbor, this whale feeding ground has made Cape Ann and its surrounding communities the "whale watching capital of the world!" On these trips, visitors are able to see and learn about the many majestic and awe-inspiring sea creatures. Naturalists join every excursion and offer an educational experience regarding these magnifcent behemoths. Cape Ann's rich maritime history is brought back to life by several schooner-style sailing crafts that offer a wide range of experiences.
